Christmas activities in South Georgia

A series of activities will be carried out in South Georgia across the Christmas period. A unique opportunity to visit another South Atlantic UKOT which was impossible to refuse. Leaving on the 15th of December and returning on the 4th of January the trip consists in providing assistance to the team involved in the long term monitoring projects of vegetation and burrowing birds; digitising the SGEBS habitat maps that are currently on paper format and validating them with some ground truthing; deploying settlement plates to monitor the spread of invasive non-native species; carry out a pathway analysis for marine invasion to provide useful information for the biosecurity plan. Details on the short but intense trip will be available on SAERI blog in january.
