The 1st paper from @UKBCFs DPLUS148 is OUT! We evaluated available literature for seasonal dynamics and trophic interactions in the Falkland marine ecosystem + identified data gaps. Freely available for a limited time- https://t.co/hzA2PPT5TVpic.twitter.com/COjcF3B6YO
In a brief weather window without wind over the weekend, PhD student @RhianTaylor & @JGrient were able to collect zooplankton samples. An unusual catch with many jellyfish and comb jellies-along with a few kelp drifters incl,an unexpected starfish & saw a Black Browed Albatross! pic.twitter.com/9sWG4tIE7p
*New publication alert* The industrialisation of the deep sea continues, requiring us to monitor baseline conditions to understand impacts. New monitoring approaches that include ecosystem services will improve deep ocean management. https://t.co/sWsTAIBKTepic.twitter.com/7dE3ArUBKt
Under the supervision of many cetaceans & seabirds, the @UKBCFs DPLUS148 project introduced PhD student Rhian Taylor, who arrived earlier in Feb,to zooplankton sampling in the #Falklands! It was a great day for science, and especially #womeninscience. Thanks to @bax_dr for joining! pic.twitter.com/64AnksjLxX
Last weekend was another opportunity to investigate the coastal zooplankton community around our Islands. We saw a complete shift compared to the last few months! Thanks to Teresa for joining and being a terrific help on the ship. @Darwin_Defra#Falklandislandspic.twitter.com/UAnqiQIymK
Spring is in… our coastal waters! Last week we collected samples that coloured our tray green (phytoplankton) and red (mainly krill and copepods). Just look at the difference in one of the nets before & after taking a sample. @Darwin_Defra @shallow_marine@FalklandsGovpic.twitter.com/TaJHus0g6D
Fieldwork is fun-even if there ain’t so much sun! Another successful trip to Berkeley Sound & Port William collecting zooplankton samples.Of course, this could not be done without the supervision of dolphins & penguins! @Darwin_Defra @shallow_marine@FalklandsGov@OregonStatepic.twitter.com/vrq7ahVDoW
The physiology work of @Darwin_Defra funded Climate Resilience in the Falklands marine ecosystem; in collab with @BAS_News Simon Morley gets a showing on @FalklandsTV! This work would not have been possible without incredible help of Fortuna & FIFD @FalklandsGov@FIFCA52degreespic.twitter.com/9L4m8XuQRt
Our DPLUS148 project has the pleasure of hosting Simon Morley from @BAS_News. Working with Fortuna we hope to gather info into an #ecosystemmodel that will help predict the future effects of #climatechange on #kelpforests that are important for several comm. species incl. squid pic.twitter.com/tlFnPT60mF

SAERI’s @EcologicalOcean & @JGrient were invited to the Business Breakfast session this week for Yr 11 FICS students. Great discussions about careers paths in marine science and future volunteering and jobs at SAERI were had! Many thanks to the organisers for this opportunity! pic.twitter.com/axlW1fwW1N
We are delighted to introduce our Senior Quantitative Marine Ecologist, Dr Jesse van der Grient @JGrient With expertise in ecological modelling, and a wealth of experience in marine research, Jesse will be a wonderful complement to our existing team! pic.twitter.com/gudJhJE95M
