The Territory to Territory (T2T) Partnership is a working collaboration between UKOTs Governments. This T2T partnership between Montserrat and the Falklands was facilitated by the UK Government’s Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC). The T2T project developed through two phases:
Phase 2: 2018-2019 data management project development and upgrade, main results: a data portal, which superseeds phase1 metadata catalogue, https://gisdataportal.gov.ms/ and a webGIS service: https://webgis.gov.ms/lm/
Phase 1: 2016-2017 data management project conceivement and initiation, main result: an online metadata catalogue: http://landinfo.gov.ms/Metadata.aspx
Summary of phase 1:
A workshop was held in Montserrat with the aim of drafting a data management plan for the Government of Montserrat (GOM) for implementation.
That draft has been subsequently developed and taken to its first implementation by a joint collaboration between SAERI, in the Falkland Islands, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Trade, Land, Housing and Environment (MATLHE) in Montserrat. Both institutions, thanks to the funding from the UK Government via the JNCC, provided human resources: SAERI made available the knowledge and experience in island-based data management systems through its IMS-GIS Data Centre and MATLHE gave the opportunity to its GIS Centre’ data manager and officer to share their skills and work ambitions.
The goals of the first T2T Partnership were to:
The final report highlights also other successes of the T2T partnership, for example the benefits from the capacity building and learning process, the positive impact of data management in both Territories, the full support to data management from both Governments.
Summary of phase 2:
In November 2018 JNCC, MATLHE, SAERI and the University of Dundee joined again to start the second phase of the T2T partnership which this time aimed to:
The goals of the first T2T Partnership were to:
The final report describes in more details the aspects of phase 2 of the T2T partnership, while the QGIS training report provides a summary of the delivered courses.
