My third thesis Chapter has now been submitted to the journal of Marine Biology and is currently under review. This study uses a complementary approach (stomach content and stable isotope analysis) to assess discard use in black-browed albatross chicks. Findings show that chicks are predominantly fed a natural diet, but that there can be important diet variation between colonies.
Analysis for my final thesis Chapter has been completed, and the write up is nearing finalisation. This study uses seabird tracking data and vessel location data to assess key foraging areas of breeding black-browed albatross, and the extent to which they overlap with fisheries. Results suggest that during incubation and brooding, overlap with fisheries is limited, but the extent of overlap with different fleets varies between colonies.
