SAERI’s mission to “deliver world-class environmental research from the Falkland Islands that informs the effective stewardship of our planet” reflects a commitment to multidisciplinary research excellence. This is embodied in its three core science focal areas—Ecosystems, Earth Science, and Remote Sensing and Data Science—which intersect to generate innovative, applied, and policy-relevant research. These focal areas are supported by the Environmental Data Services (EDS) Centre. The EDS Centre provides centralised and standardised data infrastructure to ensure long-term data management, fosters public accessibility, and empowers evidence-based decision-making across the South Atlantic Overseas Territories.
